Roaa Babiker

Roaa is a Chartered Engineer with more than 15 years of experience. Roaa focus on maximising building performance and achieving sustainability goals for high-profile building projects and clients’ advisory in shaping their ESG and Net Zero Carbon Targets and delivery roadmaps. Roaa has strong skills in integrating sustainability into building design. This includes focusing on thermal comfort, well-being, energy efficiency, reducing embodied carbon, and incorporating circular economy aspects. Her expertise in building services, building physics, and thermal modeling allows her to quickly adapt and contribute value to the team by developing energy strategies, emphasizing metering strategies, outlining high-level hydraulic design, and implementing energy-efficient designs in collaboration with the building service team. Roaa has also been involved in soft-landing and post-occupancy evaluations (POE) to connect the design with the actual building operation. Roaa's professional influence extends beyond her individual projects. She has served as the Vice Chair and secretary of the CIBSE Energy Performance Group steering committee, demonstrating her commitment to industry collaboration and knowledge sharing. She is also actively involved with the Low Carbon Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI), the British Council for Office (BCO) in updating their NZC design criteria in February 2023, and the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) Design for Performance Framework development. In May 2024, Roaa joined the Buro Happold Riyadh office in Saudi Arabia after transferring from the London office. She brought with her a business plan to join the MEP – Building Environments Middle Eastern team to enhance our building performance services and support the development of Buro Happold's Net Zero Carbon Roadmap 2030.
